South Branch Potomac River Levels

2010-present

The background of the graph shows daily measured flow rate and levels at the Franklin, WV gauge. The red and blue overlays show the levels during each of the 5-day trips we took over the past decade. Notice most of the river levels were between 2 and 3 feet. This is ideal for a Smokehole trip. Occasionally we run the river at well over 3 feet making for a fast and furious adventure. River levels on most fall trips drop to below 2 feet and require a fair amount of dragging over the rocky bottom. However, bass fishing in October is generally outstanding.
